Returning user... I'M BACK « Result #1 on Jul 31, 2010, 8:31pm »
Well, first, about the name; even I don't remember, anymore, why I chose it. I think it was based on the maximum number of guests we had on this site (431) and I just decided to change my name on here. Who knows?
Now, what do I do? Well, let's see...
Worked on lots of cars, started with Chevy/GM (1994 Chevy Blazer/S10) that I got from the neighbor for free. I spent years wrenching on it, got it to run half-decent, although I could never find half the parts I took out (lesson learned: keep track of what went where). Wound up going through a 1993 MX-6 I4, 1995 MX-6 V6, 1997 Accord, 1994 Eagle Vision, 1995 Chevy Diesel 6.5L TDI, 1995 Firehawk, 1988 Formula 305, 1987 Formula 350, 1984 Monte Carlo (#32 Stock), 1992 MX-6 Turbo (ISP), and have driven many, many more cars in my time. Can't count all the ones I've worked on or assisted with builds on. Studying Engineering at WVU, I also am president of the ARC here on campus, am a licensed amateur radio operator, and used to be a DJ on a Public Broadcast Radio Station for a while (just to name a few things I've done). Just working to pay the bills, and keep on doing what I love doing.
Would like to, once again, welcome all the new members to ImportNation, and hopefully we can get it back to it's glory days of old...

First of all, let me be the first to welcome you to IMPORT NATION!
Just have a few (basic) rules here, same as any other car forum (you can check a few others to see ... it's the same, I guarantee you).
1. Please, no flaming. The old quote everybody hears in elementary school comes to mind, "If you can't say anything nice ..."
2. If you have an event, business, or other things to advertise, keep it to one thread. That, actually, applies to everything ... no need to start 8 threads about the same thing. Also, please, message me, so I can give you access to the business board so you can post up your products and info on your services in there.
3. Please, post an intro thread. Nothing fancy, just let us know who you are and everything. Don't have to, but it's nice ...
4. Don't spam the boards with advertisements for Viagra. I might not ban much, but this is really my pet peeve. (in fact, spam for any unrelated product will lead to a ban ... not just viagra)
5. Don't post another person's car as your own. Just don't. I don't care if you drive a Geo Metro, Ford Fiesta, or if you just have a scooter ... be honest. After all, we all had to start somewhere (you can see some pics of my third car on here, and that car wasn't much to brag about!)
6. Enjoy! Yes, this is a requirement.
Also, if you have any suggestions, or want to offer some help with operating/running the site, let me know. After all, while I'm not new to this per-se, I'm far from good at it, and could use all the help I can get.
Import Nation Returns!!! « Result #3 on Jul 31, 2010, 7:46pm »
Well, after the disasters at MyOnlineGarage (with Wade bringing the site up and tearing it down repeatedly) I've decided to bring back IMPORT NATION.
Quick rundown for those who don't know: This site, like MOG, was founded by a car enthusiast, around the same time (2004) when web forums were really starting to take off. By 2006, we had over 1,000 page views/day. I've taken down a lot of the old threads, some because we were going over storage limits given our now-nonexistant daily page views, but the tech and OT sections, as well as a few select others, are still up, and the rest of the site (member list, mod/admins, etc.) hasn't really changed in the past 2-3 years.
Long story short, by 2007, we were starting to lose page views: the site's founder, Greg Sabia (Sabia Designs), decided to start other ventures, such as DCTuners.com, M3Tuners.com, RotaryTuners.com, and H-G.com. At some point, something happened involving online sales (I was never an employee of the company, but instead, just helped moderate and provide tech on the site) and several court cases were started against Sabia, and those who sued him also came on the sites and started spamming with complaints. As a result, the site really deteriorated, as did his other venture sites, and by 2008 we had only 10 or so page views/day, with only 3 active members left on here.
Well, I've decided it's about time to see if I can't get this site back to it's glory days, when it was all about a simple web format, friendly chat, and top-notch technical info on everything from show-winning cars and customization to how to build a cheap 11-second, 10-second, or faster drag car.
So, if you're down for great chat, good times, and excellent tech, WELCOME! If you're here to advertise your company, please contact me, and I'll set you up with free access to our company advertisement boards, and if you want to promote your events, go right ahead. Just please, be respectful of others, follow the rules, and we'll be on good terms.
